Barcelona to Host Inaugural Match at Renovated Camp Nou over the weekend
Barcelona have announced they are set to host at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou this Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in La Liga 30 months following their departure to allow renovations to start.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees can be present as per the current authorization. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach close to 105,000 fans, a rise from the old capacity. The club said finished work included an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized an open training session on the home pitch earlier this month. Officials stated approval is being pursued from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side on 9 December at the stadium. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
